Members of CODE W are making history not only during Women’s History Month but all year round.
Shout out to our affiliate member, Shero Lara Alatise, owner and administrator of Windsor Health & Rehab in Connecticut, for “ Breaking the CODE” with her commitment to excellence in healthcare.
Shero Lara became an enthusiast of healthcare as a young girl growing up in Africa where she cared for her grandmother. Despite having a lucrative career as a Senior Investigator at the State Department of Social Services, she decided to take a C.N.A. course in 1994 so that she may learn and work in the nursing home environment. She became an LNHA in 2001 and has been managing nursing homes since.
Shero Lara recognized that she has an opportunity to share her experience, at the same time, learn from a diverse group of women who are driven, professional, and dedicated to making a difference. As Shero Lara believes, a woman has to “[have her] eyes and ears on the pulse of everything that is going on — it’s not “micromanaging” as some people may be too quick to label it. It is being able to effectively respond to your business needs.” Also, she believes that women should “[not] be complacent.”
